We have moved away from the model of an elected Student Council and toward a more diverse model of student leadership. Lead Learners are responsible for researching and educating the student body about issues and projects and causes that the school supports. Our Peace Makers Team is responsible for supporting other students in conflict resolution and friendship skills and are also responsible for school spirit activities. Our Nature Warriors team leads our environmental initiatives. Sports Leadership is a team that facilitates student athletic activities.

What Has the Leadership Team Been Up to This Year?

• Led us in learning about reconciliation on the lead-up to Orange Shirt Day.
• Organized Walk to School Week
• Look after weekly recycling and composting
• Led us in We Scare Hunger which collected over 800 pounds of food for the LdB Food Bank.
• Took on speaking pieces for our Remembrance Day service.
• Organized Toonie Tuesday and a popcorn sale, to raise funds for the LdB Christmas Hamper Campaign
• Led a recess break fitness option for K-6 kids
• Monitor the playground at recess to help solve conflicts and to help kids find someone to play with.
• Ran some recess sports and fitness activities.
• Organized a variety of dress-up days.
