One of PAC’s big projects is to improve safety for kids coming to school. They experimented with a crossing guard and collected data in September and they’ve approached the Town to find out about how to get the speed limit reduced in front of the school. The Town has heard them and has started a process to see what does and does not have public support. There was talk of putting in a four way stop at Minnewawa and McArthur, flags were added to the crosswalks to draw attention, and the speed limit monitor was placed just before the school. Reducing the speed limit in front of the school would further help kids get to school safely. The fact is that many cars speed past the school and many cars fail to stop for kids at the crosswalks.
The Town of Lac du Bonnet has launched a public survey to address concerns surrounding traffic safety near Centennial School. The survey is available on their website, at the municipal office, and through their social media platforms. I’ve put it on our Facebook page and we sent out an e-mail to families, too. And the link is below.
Council is pleased to see a strong initial response and anticipate even greater participation as awareness grows. Council recognizes the significance of this issue and values the input of daily users to guide informed decision-making.

Centennial families are directly impacted so our voices should be heard. It’s a brief survey. Take a look.
