Over the past two weeks, we’ve had more than a dozen new students register, and we have a sizeable Kindergarten group who are all new to school, too. Staff members have taken on new roles, and we are pleased to welcome new teachers and educational assistants to our team.
We've also made some changes to our school spaces. Some staff members have moved into new classrooms and workspaces. Our breakfast room has been reorganized so it can also serve as a science lab, and we've created a legacy space in the Computer Lab by relocating and displaying historical photos and achievements. And, of course, we have a new principal leading things.
With all of that new, the substance of Centennial – our core beliefs and values – remain the same. The excitement and opportunities that come with the start of a new school year remain the same, too!
Thanks to continued provincial funding, our breakfast program has been up and running since the first day of classes. Kids can come in the morning for a granola bar or to have some cereal, yogurt, or fresh fruit.
There are many exciting activities coming up this fall. Cross Country training will start soon. There will be an information session and sign-up for the Nature Warriors. The Social Club will be going on a field trip next week! We have a school-wide field trip to the Sandy Saulteux Centre in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation Day. The Terry Fox Run is scheduled for October 5th. And, teachers will be spending September establishing routines and expectations and getting started with the year’s learning!
A special thank you goes out to all of the teachers who came in over the last few weeks to make sure their classrooms were ready for the kids!
